Where is everybody?
Mar. 12th, 2005 09:32 pmYOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO HAVE BETTER THINGS TO DO ON A SATURDAY NIGHT THAN BE MY INTERWEBNETS FRIENDS!
This includes YOU, D&D crew (Florida, not New York). you're all making me hate myself for not having anything better to do.
I watched a movie tonight.
It was actually four short films, and it was called Robot Stories. I liked it, even though the effects were cheesy and it didn't make me think about anything that Dick and Gibson and Cadigan hadn't. The first one ("My Robot Baby") wasn't that great. The second clip ("Robot Fixer") made me cry. SHUT UP. Only a little. But still.
I also liked the third one ("Machine Love") even though it wasn't anything new.
But the fourth one ("Clay") was my favourite.
It was like ... the softer side of Synners.
I liked Synners a great deal. I didn't like the ending, though. Well - okay - I felt like the ending was a bit of a cop out. Gina should have had to make an actual choice. The guy in Clay did make an actual choice. So ... I liked it.
Still. if you can get this movie at Blockbuster or the library, it's worth the 80-something minutes it runs.
Hehehe ... there are androids in part 3. They're made by a company called Sprout. This company is a blatant rip-off of Apple. Right down to the fact that the android? Is called an iPerson. Oh, and when the two iPeople are talking to each other, they both end up using the Apple SimpleText voice. I love it.
Anyway, Robot Stories is sweet and sad and I liked it. The side of my Blockbuster box says Sci-Fi/Action, but it's wrong. Science fiction, maybe, but that elegant near-future sort. Nothing too far out there. Except maybe the iPeople and the boxes from Clay. But we're getting there.
